That being said, I'd like to show you some pictures of our latest hike. The pictures were taken in the old year, on December 30th. Germany has seen loads of snow this winter, but naturally the photos don't look as impressive as the actual scenery did. It's a place called "Silberbachtal" / "Silverstream Vale". Although it isn't that far from the village where I live, I hadn't been there until Spring 2010 when Sebastian first took me there. I have a thing for streams, especially when they flow through a forest.
The Silberbachtal is very popular and often a bit too crowded for my taste. There is a nice little hotel/restaurant/cafe, the "Silbermühle / Silvermill" and a lot of people like to stop there to have cake and coffee. But when you go hiking through the vale early in the morning and maybe even on a workday you may be lucky to see very few people.
We had to fight through a lot of snow and broken trees this time but it was wonderful. It gave the place an even more magical look because you couldn't see the little trails that are well-worn by thousands of feet, and made the place look wild and untouched.
I had seen the vale in spring, summer and autumn and was looking forward to see it all covered in snow.
Everything was coated with glittery ice so that the branches actually jingled when the wind blew through the trees.
Sadly the pictures can't show half of the beauty. I hope you have some snow fun this winter, too!
Do you have any resolutions for the new year? A lot of people think that those resolutions are a waste of time because they tend to fall back into their old habits after only a few days into the new year. I always have resolutions. But I have them not only at the start of a new year, but also at the start of a new week, sometimes even at the start of a new day. Nevertheless, I like to reflect on the old year and with that, resolutions come naturally. In 2011 I want to be more hard-working and dedicated in several matters - my studies, our home (I'm a bit chaotic and messy), ... And I need to organize and declutter my possessions. It's the 4th day of the new year and I haven't been that good so far. But I can do all of that and I will! So what are your goals and resolutions? I would love to hear about them!
